The plan for Kahnawake’s Community Initiatives Fund was unanimously approved by Chief and Council. The fund aims to improve Kahnawake’s economy by developing positive, sustainable initiatives. The main focus areas of the fund are education and learning, language and culture, health and wellness, and social economy. The fund will start at $3 million, which came from the Canadian exchange from the sale of Continent 8 shares in 2016. When the fund becomes available, community members and organizations will be able to apply for funding for a new initiative that will increase the quality of life for the community.
