The Kahnawake Education Center (KEC) in partnership with McGill University, will offer a Bachelor of Education program in Kahnawake starting this fall. The intensive 120-credit university-level program is geared towards Kahnawa’kehró:non. Graduates will receive a Bachelor’s degree in First Nations and Inuit Education, and will be certified to teach anywhere in Quebec. The courses will be held at night at one of the KEC schools, though the exact location has not been determined. Applicants must be on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry and must be eligible for KEC funding. They will need to submit a post-secondary funding application, a current CV, letter of intent and two references to Bethany Douglas, the KEC’s Post-Secondary Distance Counselor. Applications will be available this Wednesday May 9th at the KEC reception or on the organization’s website.
