The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke said that court proceedings will begin on Monday regarding the membership lawsuit filed against the MCK by Waneek Horn-Miller and 15 other people. The legal action will determine if Kahnawakeronon can live in the community with their non-native spouses. The trial will take place at the Quebec Superior Court at the Longueuil Courthouse and is scheduled to last until December 13th. Monday’s proceedings will begin at 9:30 am, while the other days will start at 9:15am. A certain number of Council Chiefs, including Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton and chief Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, who holds the Membership Portfolio, will testify on behalf of the MCK.
