There was a small fire at Lafleur’s Dining Room restaurant in Kahnawake last night. According to the Kahnawake Fire Brigade (KFB), the fire started just after 8pm, though the cause is unknown. Fire trucks got to the scene within minutes after it started. There were people eating at the restaurant at the time, but they were quickly and safely evacuated. There were no injuries and the flames were put out just before 10pm. The restaurant’s kitchen ventilation system suffered some damage, and the KFB had to remove the system’s exterior to make sure there was no damage to the inside of the building’s walls.
