Caisse Populaire Kahnawake gave out 6 Scholarship Awards this year. The award is given to community members who volunteer and contribute to Kahnawake, while achieving high academic success. Those awarded $1,000 were Cassidy Meloche, who is in the Kanien’keha Ratiwennahni:rats Adult Immersion Program, Megan White, who is studying for a Master of Arts in Creative Art Therapies at Concordia University, and Taylor Goodleaf , studying for a Masters in Social Work in Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency at the University of Toronto. Other $1,000 winners were Kahteraks Quinney Goodleaf, who’s in the Indigenous Wellness and Addiction Prevention Program at Canadore College, and Laurie Whitebean, who is in the Health Assistance and Nursing Program at Chateauguay Valley Career Education Center. Carsyn Meloche was awarded $500 for attending Miss Edgars and Miss Cramps High School.
