The Community Decision Making Process Second Hearing on proposed amendments to the Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke Law came to an end last night after it’s seventh and final meeting. The event took place at the Golden Age Club and following a few final amendments, concluded with a Formal Reading of the Law and a Certification of Process. It was signed by the Community and KLCC Representatives. The Law will now go through the MCK briefly before it is enacted and a community meeting will take place next week.

The Finance Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake has taken direct control over the Housing Department due to the alleged scam that threatened people with eviction and mortgage defaults because of non-payment. As MCK Executive Financial Officer Paul Rice already told K1037 News, no one will be evicted. An investigation into allegedly misappropriated funds in the housing department is already underway by an outside firm.
